Onlookers at an accident scene in Nakuru were captured making away with sacks of maize from an ill-fated truck that rammed into a matatu.

The heavy trailer rammed into a 14-seater matatu at the Eveready Roundabout along the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway at dawn on Sunday, December 31.

As police and rescuers cleared the scene, the passersby got access into the truck and carried away the goods in transit.

A video seen by Nairobi Leo showed them shouldering the loot one after another as the law enforcers looked on.

The truck was loaded with sacks of maize when it rammed into the PSV killing five people.

Five people lost their lives in the nasty accident.

Several passengers severely injured in the grisly accident were reportedly rushed to the Nakuru Teaching and Referral Hospital for medical attention.

According to reports, the trailer which was coming from Eldoret lost its brakes and bumped into the matatu.

A video of the accident shared online showed a matatu belonging to Ngata Sacco completely destroyed.
