President William Ruto has revoked the appointment of 4 members appointed by former President Uhuru Kenyatta's administration to serve on the Kenya Railways Corporation Board of Directors.
In a special gazette notice dated Monday, January 8, Ruto announced that their revocation was with immediate effect.
The four are Mohammed Alawi Hussun, Dennis Aroka, Catherine Musakali, and Sumaiya Salim Mohamed.
"I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, revoke the appointment of Mohammed Alawi Hussun, Dennis Aroka, Catherine Musakali, and Sumaiya Salim Mohamed as members of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Railways Corporation, with effect from January 8, 2024," the notice read.

Alawi and Musakali were appointed by the Jubilee administration on October 6, 2021. Aroka and Salim were appointed as KRC Boards of Directors on July 8, 2022, and July 13, 2022, respectively.
The four who have been shown the door served as Independent Directors at the KRC.
However, the Head of State did not immediately name their replacements.
The revocation is expected to pave the way for more reforms in the country's transport city starting with Kenya Railways.
Kenya Railways is expected to record significant improvements following a deal signed between Kenya and the United Kingdom to modernise the Central Station.
The new rehabilitated station will be known as Railway City which will feature state-of-the-art facilities and services.
According to the Kenya Kwanza administration, the upgrade will improve urban mobility.
