Safaricom's M-Pesa system has gone down.

Safaricom’s M-Pesa service is currently experiencing a downtime affecting users trying to make transactions.

Users who tried to send money received a message indicating that M-Pesa was experiencing delays.

“MPESA is experiencing delays and is not able to accept your request. Please wait for 10 minutes before trying again,” the M-Pesa message read.

The delay is also being experienced while trying to transact through the Safaricom and M-Pesa applications.

Safaricom customer care while responding to Kenyans asking why the M-Pesa service was having delays said they are facing a technical issue and are working to resolve it.

“Our apologies for the inconvenience caused, we have a technical issue affecting M-Pesa, resolution is in progress, we ask for your patience,” Safaricom stated.
