President William Ruto now says some people approached him asking him to allocate a budget for bribing judicial officers.

Speaking on Tuesday, January 9 in Kapsuswa, Uasin Gishu County, Ruto said the individuals told him the previous administration had allocated funds to bribe the courts to rule in favor of the government.

"Some people are telling me that because the previous government had a budget for bribing courts I should also go and create a budget for bribing the courts. Do you want your money to be used for bribing in court?" Ruto posed.

The Head of State pointed out he will not use any money to bribe the judges but instead will finish corruption in the judiciary.

“No budget will be created for bribing anyone in court. Instead of engaging in bribery, we will end corruption in the courts. The court is supposed to serve the people of Kenya. The courts are employees of the citizens,” said President Ruto.

He vowed to firmly deal with corruption in the Judiciary saying its independence should not be used to deny Kenyans their rights.

Ruto has been attacking the Judiciary in the past one week claiming some corrupt Judicial officials are sabotaging his legacy projects, Universal Health Care and Affordable Housing.

Chief Justice Martha Koome defended the Judiciary noting that the trend of attacking and criticizing judges in public in ongoing cases is a way of intimidating them.
