"I will not accept any intimidation. Leadership comes from God as long as I'm working."

Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya now claims Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa and Senator Boni Khalwale are fighting because of his popularity.

In a statement via X on Sunday, January 14, Salasya sensationally said he could call for a meeting of twenty thousand people while Governor Barsa and Khalwale could not.

The first time MP went on to say he would not allow intimidation from the two politicians.

“The reason people like Boni Khalwale, Barasa Fernandes, etc are fighting me is because they don't have a following. If today I call a meeting of 20000 people, they will come ...them they can't. I will not accept any intimidation. Leadership comes from God as long as I'm working,” Salasya stated.

On Saturday, Senator Khalwale chastised Salasya after he faced off with a MCA in Isongo and slapped him.

In a video doing rounds on social media, Salasya is heard calmly addressing the mourners before asking the MCA standing on the side to sit down.

“Our leaders have gone mad. From an MP shooting a DJ to another one shooting a man dead to others pitting rival goons against each other & now to this! Kenyan voters must seriously retrospect,” said Khalwale.

Salasya was arrested on Friday over the incident and spent the night at Shianda Police Station.

The DAP-K MP was freed on Saturday on a Sh 50,000 cash bail and is expected to be charged in court on Monday, January 15, 2023.

According to the police, Salasya could face two counts of assault causing actual bodily harm and creating a disturbance in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace.
