The traders threatened to paralyze revenue collection in Kisumu.

Activities in Kisumu Central Business District (CBD) were on Wednesday, January 24 brought to a standstill after traders staged demonstrations demanding the resignation of Kisumu City Manager Abala Wanga.

In a video seen by Nairobi Leo, the traders who protested along the Kenyatta highway disagreed with Wanga’s plan to relocate the Kisumu Bus Stage.

They hoisted placards demanding the resignation of the city manager.

"Abala Wanga must go," read one of the placards.

The irate traders stormed Kisumu Governor Anyang Nyongo’s office and threatened to paralyze revenue collection in the city citing constant disruptions of their businesses.

Addressing the media one of the traders said they will not agree with the plan to move the bus park and demanded Governor Nyongo to call their leaders for a discussion over the issue.

“We will not agree with moving the bus park to Molem. We will not agree with the demolition of Nyamlori. As business people that is our place where we get income to take care of our children and families.

“We are not going to give our revenues to Kisumu County because of the conduct of Mr. Abala Wanga until when the governors calls our leaders to discuss our issues. We even want it to be done at a public place,” the trader stated.
