The vehicle had three more occupants on the day Sniper was murdered.

Investigators have continued to make progress in their probe into the murder of Daniel Muthiani alias Sniper.

Sniper was brutally murdered in December 2023.

The latest development is the recovery of a motor vehicle boarded moments before his brutal murder.

On Saturday, January 27, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) announced that its homicide detectives had come across the vehicle the deceased used in his last moments.

The silver Toyota Premio, registration number KCR 742N, was traced in the course of the detectives' thorough forensic analysis of crucial leads, which pointed to a residential place in the Canopy area of Kithoka, Meru county.

The detectives established that one Vincent Mureithi Kirimi, alias Supuu, was the driver who hired the vehicle on the date of Sniper's abduction, and later his gruesome murder.

Kirimi had ferried other occupants named Brian Mwenda, Christus Manyara Kiambi and Boniface Kithinji Njihia alias DJ Kaboom.

The deceased blogger's body was found dumped in the Mutonga River in Chiakariga area of Tharaka Nithi county.

An autopsy report indicated that Sniper was strangled, this after the postmortem was conducted by chief government pathologist Johansen Oduor, who revealed that the deceased had marks on the neck.

Meanwhile, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) preferred murder charges against two people.

Murangiri Kenneth Guantai, also known as Tali, was among the suspects set to face murder charges following a directive issued by the DPP in connection with Sniper's killing.

Guantai is Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza's brother. He serves as a law enforcement officer.

Also to face murder charges would be Kirimi who the detectives established was the driver of the recovered vehicle.

“The director of public prosecutions (DPP) is satisfied that there is sufficient evidence to sustain the charge of murder against Vincent Murithi Kirimi alias Supuu and Murangiri Kenneth Guantai alias Tali,” the statement read in part.

”Consequently, the DPP has directed that Vincent Mureithi Kirimi and Murangiri Kenneth Guantai be arraigned before the High Court at Kiambu for the offence of Murder contrary to Section 203 as read with Section 204 of the Penal Code forthwith."

The two were part of the group of suspects grilled after Sniper was found dead Sunday, December 17, 2023, under mysterious circumstances after missing for over three weeks.
