Former National Assembly Majority Leader Amos Kimunya’s wife Lucy is dead.

In a statement on Tuesday, January 30, Kimunya said his wife succumbed at 3:00 am while receiving treatment at Nairobi Hospital

“It is with deep sorrow and humble acceptance of God’s will that I wish to announce that this Tuesday morning at 3:00 am my dear wife Lucy went to be with the lord while receiving care at Nairobi Hospital,” read the statement in part.

Kimunya mourned his wife as a key pillar in his political life who contributed to making the society better through various initiatives.

“She was a key pillar in both my personal and political life, she contributed immensely to making our society greener through various initiatives and supporter of the youth and women. Go well our dear Lucy, we will miss you dearly,” the former Kipipiri MP eulogized.

He further noted that he will issue more communication on the death of his wife.

Kimunya served as the Majority Leader in the previous National Assembly replacing then Garissa Town MP Aden Duale after falling out with retired President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Apart from being an MP Kimunya also served in various government positions including as the Minister of Finance, Minister of Trade, Minister of Transport, and Minister of Lands all under the late Mwai Kibaki's tenure.
