“I heard one of our friends saying the other day that when he sees things he feels like crying."

President William Ruto has chided his predecessor Uhuru Kenyatta over his recent remarks on the Kenya Kwanza administration. 

Speaking on Monday, February 19 during the joint National Executive Retreat and Parliamentary Group consultative meeting in Naivasha, Nakuru County, Ruto said the former Head of State is feeling like crying because he did not believe the Housing Programme could be implemented.

“I heard one of our friends (Uhuru Kenyatta) saying the other day that when he sees things he feels like crying. It is true because they are now wondering if it was true that housing was possible and they wasted time on reggae. That is what it is. Many people thought it was not possible and now see it is possible,” said Ruto. 

Uhuru on Saturday during the burial of former Kipipiri MP Amos Kimunya’s wife Lucy Wanjiru said he was saddened by how the current administration is running the country.

The retired President revealed that he observes the happenings in the country's leadership and he is often taken aback.

"Nowadays I don't talk much. I just observe things. Sometimes I hold my head in astonishment. You wonder if should you cry or laugh, but you decide to love your country because it is home," said Uhuru.

He pointed out that leaders who focus on the past will not take the country anywhere insisting that only leaders who have visions can provide solutions to the challenges Kenyans are experiencing.

“If you are a person driving a car looking at the rearview, you are a person who drives the car into a ditch. You are going nowhere. You are taking the country nowhere. The country needs leaders who have vision because that is what will be useful to solve the problems Kenyans are facing," the former Head of State asserted.
