“I will still make my vows of love even in your rest."

World Record marathon holder Kelvin Kiptum’s wife Asenath Rotich has revealed that they were planning to have a wedding in April this year.

Speaking on Friday, February 23 during Kiptum’s burial service in Elgeyo Marakwet, Asenath said God’s plans are greater.

“We have been planning for our big day to tie the knot in a colorful wedding ceremony in April 2024, but God’s plans are greater,” Rotich said while shedding tears.

Nonetheless, Kiptum’s wife said she would make the vows of love in his absence.

“I will still make my vows of love even in your rest. When your star was going to be the brightest God chose you,” she stated.

I hope in the spirit world you will inspire me to stand as a pillar to our children I promise to make them smile in your honour. I will make you happy all the time,” Kiptum’s wife added.

The late athlete’s funeral service is currently underway at Chepkorio showground in Elgeyo Marakwet.
