The riffles of the two officers were traced in their houses.

Two police officers have been reported missing following an Al Shabab attack on the Kambioos Police Post in Garissa County.

According to a police report seen by nairobileo.co.ke, the Al Shabab militants attacked the police post on Wednesday night from the southwest side using rocket-propelled grenades and AK 47 riffles.

“Today at around 1930hrs, an unknown number of suspected Al-Shabaab militants probed Kambioos Police Post from the southwest side of the post about 700 meters from the camp m/r aa601101 firing r.p.g's and AK 47 rifles,” read the report in part.

The police officers in the post responded swiftly and successfully managed to contain the militants and no injuries were reported in the incident.

Following the attack, a team of police officers from Hagadera was deployed to the police post and after a head count two officers were found missing but their riffles were traced in their houses.

“Officers responded and successfully managed to repulse the militants. a team of police officers from Hagadera Police Station under the command of s.c.p.c Fafi Mr. Stephen Parlero visited the scene and after headcount, two police officers namely no:233405 cpl Daniel Njagi and no:245209 p.c Newton Kibet were found missing and their AK rifle s/no 5525200 and G3 s/no 78098925 respectfully were traced in their houses," the report added. 

The security agencies in Garissa led by the Anti-Terror Police Unit (ATPU) have begun an operation to trace the two missing police officers.
