Walter Onchonga Mongáre popularly known as Nyambane has been dismissed from a government role with immediate effect.

In an internal memo signed by Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Korir Sing'oei, Nyambane will no longer be allowed to transact business on behalf of the government.

Nyambane who rose to the limelight by imitating the late former President Daniel Arap Moi, was the Director of Programmes (Advocacy and Outreach).

Following his dismissal, other officials were warned against engaging with Nyambane for official government duties.

"This is to inform you that Mr. Walter Onchonga Mongáre, Director of Programmes (Advocacy & Outreach) is no longer authorized to act in any capacity on behalf of the State Department or myself," the memo read in part.

"This is, therefore, to instruct you to refrain, with immediate effect, from any official interactions and/or engagement with Mr. Mongáre," it added.

By the time of this publication, Nyambane had not issued a statement regarding his dismissal.

In the 2022 General Election Nyambane was on the verge of taking a stab at the country's top seat on the Umoja Summit Party. 

However, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) revoked his nomination certificates due to issues stemming from his academic certificates.
