“This swift action has prevented a worse catastrophe. We all must now prioritise restraint and allow the United Nations to take complete charge and defuse and de-escalate the crisis."

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has condemned the recent attack on Israel by Iran.

In a statement on Monday, April 15, Kalonzo said all the energies should be directed at ending the Gaza conflict.

“I join the international community in condemning the attack on Israel by Iran at a time when all our energies ought to be directed at ending the war in Gaza,” said Kalonzo.

The former Vice President commended the co-ordinated united diplomatic response by the Group of Seven saying it is the assurance by President Joe Biden that the US will not take part in any counter-offensive against Iran.

“This swift action has prevented a worse catastrophe. We all must now prioritise restraint and allow the United Nations to take complete charge and defuse and de-escalate the crisis,” Kalonzo added.

Further, the Wiper party leader mentioned that neither the Middle East nor the world can afford an all-out war at this time adding that the Middle East cannot go to war with itself so soon after Easter and Ramadhan celebrations.

Kalonzo’s statement comes hours after President William Ruto noted that Kenya is concerned over Iran's attack on Israel.

The Head of State pointed out that the attack could worsen the already delicate situation in the Middle East.

"Kenya is deeply concerned by Iran's attack on the State of Israel. This disturbing development only serves to aggravate an already delicate situation in the Middle East," Ruto stated.

President Ruto urged Israel to show utmost restraint towards Iran to avoid escalating the conflict beyond recovery.

"In responding to this act of aggression, Kenya urges Israel to show utmost restraint taking into account the urgent need for all parties to walk away from the brink beyond which recovery will be enormously difficult," Ruto appealed.

Iran on Saturday night launched an aerial attack on Israel in a bid to retaliate against an Israeli strike that killed several senior Iranian military commanders in Damascus on April 1.

However, Israel with the help of its allies managed to intercept 99 percent of the projectiles.
