CJ Koome invited members of the public to avail in writing any information of interest on the 41 shortlisted candidates. 

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) on Tuesday April 23 shortlisted 41 candidates for the Court of Appeal judge position.

The 41 candidates were picked from 82 applicants that sent their applications after JSC announced vacancies for 11 Court Of Appeal judges.

"At the close of the advertisement on 29th February 2024, a total of 82 applications were received. The JSC having reviewed the application for completeness and conformity with the requirements as set out in the advertisement, shortlisted 41 candidates," CJ Martha Koome stated.

Notable names who failed to make it to the shortlist include former Independent Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairman Wafula Chebukati, former IEBC vice chair Lilian Mahiri Zaja, Priscilla Nyokabi and Justice Nixon Sifuna.

Among those who were shortlisted for the roles include; former IEBC chairman Isaac Hassan, lawyer Katwa Kigen, Justice Grace Nzioka, Justice Chacha Mwita, Justice Alfred Mabeya and Justice Dalmas Omondi.

CJ Koome invited members of the public to avail in writing any information of interest on the 41 shortlisted candidates by May 13, 2024 at 5:00 pm.

"Take note that the Commission may interview any member of the public who has submitted information on any of the shortlisted candidates and such information shall be kept confidential,” the Chief Justice added.

The interviews will commence on Monday June 3, 2024 at CBK Pension Towers Nairobi and end on Thursday June 20, 2024.
