  • The DP maintains that Uhuru has abandoned him despite backing him.
  • Ruto further claims that powerful people are working to push him out of government.

The rift between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto played out once again on Saturday.

While speaking in Baringo county, Ruto accused Uhuru of deserting him despite campaigning together.

According to Ruto, his boss has abandoned him, and he is now associating with thieves. He noted that the people around Uhuru are currently working to push him out of government.

"There are people plotting to push me out of the Jubilee government. I'd like to ask when seeking leadership on Jubilee party, was Uhuru with me or with the thieves he's currently with?" asked Ruto.

Following the recent changes to the executive, Ruto further claimed that powerful forces are now going after his allies, pushing them out of government.

He cited the recent arrests of his friends Sylvanus Osoro and Joash Maangi in Kisii County.

At the same time, the DP appealed to his allies to focus on delivering development projects.

"At the moment, all the leaders who were in the jubilee, some are being pushed out of leadership on grounds that they are allies of the deputy president. When did it become a crime to be a friend of the Deputy president who is a friend of the President who was elected alongside the president?" he asked.

Ruto's sentiments come after he was dared by President Uhuru to resign over what he termed as doublespeak. However, the DP has maintained he is not quitting the government anytime soon.

Ruto and his team maintain that the handshake's onset has resulted in the crumbling of the Jubilee Party.

He has accused ODM leader Raila Odinga of derailing the Jubilee development agenda through the handshake.
