The committee appointed by Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha to oversee the re-opening of schools has settled on October 19th 2020, as the new opening dates.

The committee noted that the new date is subject to acceptance by CS Magoha and his team from the ministry.

Reports on Nation indicate that a meeting has been set for Monday 21, September 2020 to deliberate on the date proposed by the committee.

New KCPE &KCSE Dates

The committee advised the Ministry of Education to consider having the KCSE and KCPE national examinations in April 2021.

Should the new dates be adopted, candidates and all other pupils will have a slight delay in the educational calendar, but will not repeat classes as had earlier been indicated.

All schools were closed in March after the country confirmed positive corona virus cases in the country.

The Ministry of Education rolled out online classes but that has not been very effective as some students come from remote areas with no access to electricity.

This new development also indicates that the country may soon be re-opened fully, since opening of schools is the major aspect that was still pending.
