Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua has said President Uhuru Kenyatta was setting bad precedence on how leaders should relate with their deputies, terming the current situation was untannable.

In an interview on Citizen TV, Karua dismissed calls to have the Deputy President William Ruto resign as a skewed application of the law.

She stated that President Kenyatta should vacate if he feels he can no longer tolerate and manage to work with DP Ruto despite their disagreements.

"Our constitution gives mandate to the President and to the presidency. The president can not run as president of Kenya without a running mate.

"The occupier of that office must at all times be conscious that his mandate is together with his deputy. If he feels they can no longer can work together, the government can resign and we will elect another president with his deputy," stated Karua.

She challenged the President to treat his deputy with decorum saying their differences can be resolved in boardrooms as opposed to the public display of disaffection and frustration.

Karua took issue with use of the police to frustrate outfits opposed to the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) coined by the President and the opposition's Raila Odinga.

"The police must refuse to be used as a partisan tool by one side of the government. It is an abuse of the law. What is happening now is double standards and totally unconstitutional in so far as it is discriminatory and unwarranted," stated Karua.
