Police officers raided queues at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) arresting several passengers.

Chaos broke out at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport today, May 22, 2021, as police officers arrested passengers over allegations of hotel booking.

Services were halted at the airport as police officers dragged several passengers out of the terminals.

In a video seen by NairobiLeo.co.ke, police officers can be seen arresting and accosting travelers out of the airport terminals with their luggage.

Those left in the queues could be heard chanting protest slogans in solidarity.

Reports indicate that the passengers had issues with the hotels they had booked and were yet to sought them out before they could leave.

A source at the airport told our news desk that the passengers were taken into holding at the JKIA police cells, and the airport is yet to issue a statement as to what exactly transpired.

JKIA was earlier in the year ranked as one of the best airports in Africa in terms of customer services by the Airports Council International (ACI).

The ratings were achieved through the collection of passenger feedback through the Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Departures survey, to help them better understand their customers during the pandemic.
