UDA has dismissed allegations that the party is owned by former Machakos Senator Johnson Nduya Muthama.

UDA Secretary General Veronica Maina has dismissed allegations by Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria after the lawmaker raised concerns over its leadership and operations.

Maina refuted allegations that the Deputy President William Ruto-linked party is owned by former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama.

The UDA sec-gen in a press statement released on Monday, May 24, 2021, maintained that the party is owned by hustlers.

"We wish to state categorically that UDA is neither Hon Johnstone Muthama's party nor it is managed by sitting MPs. On the Contrary, UDA is the Hustler's party,” the statement read in part.

While withdrawing PEP's candidature from the July 15 Kiambaa Constituency by-election claimed that UDA is owned by Muthama, and PDP by former South Mugirango MP Omingo Mugirango.

"Whereas PEP is driven by our ordinary men and women, mostly the youth, our sister party UDA is largely driven by my colleagues the incumbent MPs whom I respect a lot. Both compliment each other," Kuria wrote on Facebook.

Maina further clarified that Magara had left PDP and is a fully fledged member of the UDA party.

β€œIn the spirit of Hustler Nation, Omingo Magara has left PDP and joined the UDA. In the same vein. Hon Mwangi Kiunjuri of The Service Party has been consulting with UDA on a united approach in the fielding of candidates and other Hustler Nation activities,” Maina said.

She noted that UDA is in talks with Mwangi Kiunjuri's TSP to forge a united coalition ahead of the 2022 general election.
