Agitated boda boda riders barricaded the Nairobi-Kangundo road protesting the recent killings of their colleagues.

Hundreds of boda boda riders from Kamulu today, May 27, 2021, blocked the busy Nairobi-Kangundo Road protesting the killings of their colleagues.

The riders decried rising cases of insecurity in the area, stating that five of their colleagues have been killed in the last two months by thugs who pose as customers.

The boda boda operators who ply the Kamulu, Ruai and Joska routes accused law enforcement in the area for security lapses that has left them vulnerable to criminals.

According to the berieved riders, the five were killed and their motorcycles stolen, demanding action from police in Kangundo, Machakos police stations.


The irate riders barricaded the busy road, setting tires on fire as they demanded for investigations into the killings.

In, one incident, the operators say a colleague's motorcycle was recovered in Kajiado town, Kajiado County.

Elsewhere, over 200 boda boda riders stormed the Tigoni Police Station demanding justice following the mysterious disappearance of their colleagues.

Sub-County Commander Eline Mola assured the agitated riders that police will investigate the matter and perpetrators brought to account.

"I wish you could have come to us earlier and inform us that there is a syndicate snatching your motorcycles. This is a matter we will handle seriously," Mola stated.
