A somber mood has engulfed Mfangano North Location after a standard seven pupil allegedly committed suicide after his parents reportedly denied him an opportunity to watch the UEFA Champions League final that saw Manchester face off with Chelsea.

The Ramba Primary School pupil identified as Mavin Ochieng Okuku reportedly hanged himself inside his room using his trouser.

Reports indicate that his body was found hanging inside his room with a trouser tied around his neck.

Area chief Bernard Oloo told the media that Mavin had requested to go watch the UEFA final match at the nearby trading centre, but his parents could hear none of it, instead ordering him to go sleep.


Oloo further noted that Mavin’s mother locked the boy inside his room so that he does not sneak out and watch the game.

According to the chief, the decision to deny the boy an opportunity to watch the match, and the additional move to lock him inside the house may have angered and prompted him to commit suicide.

The minor’s body has been taken to Kirindo mortuary even as more investigations are conducted.

The UEFA Champions League Final happened on Saturday night at Porto. Chelsea emerged victorious after thrashing Manchester City 1-0.

Following the win, Chelsea has now won two UEFA Champion league trophies since the club was established.

The club won their first UEFA Champion League trophy in 2012 after beating Bayern Munich in penalties.
