Police have arrested two men in connection with the theft of Ksh6 million from a construction site.

Two men have been nabbed by police officers in Gatundu North for robbing Chinese nationals of Ksh6 million at the Karimenu II dam project area.

Reports indicate that three armed men made their way into the Chinese contractors' residences located within the projects site, attacked them and made away with the money. According to a police report, one of the thugs, had a pistol and the other two were armed with Knives.

The suspects are believed to have accessed the site through a water drainage outlet at the fence.


“They were forced to surrender approximately Ksh6 million,” the police report read in part.

Kiambu County Commander Ali Nuno led officers to the crime scene, with investigations underway to locate the third suspect.

He assured that the police would grill the two suspects in custody on the whereabouts of the third perpetrator, ahead of their arraignment in court.

The two were booked under OB number OB/2/5/62021 and face robbery with violence charges.

Upon its completion, the Ksh24 billion dam project is expected to boost water supply in Thika, Juja, Ruiru and Nairobi areas.
