Music stars from the larger Gusii region put their best foot forward during this year's Mashujaa Day Celebrations at the Gusii Stadium.

Radio presenter Fred Obachi Machokaa and Citizen TV's Lulu Hassan led the entertainment segment during the ceremony, ushering in an outstanding performance by a combination of artists from both Nyamira and Kisii Counties.

The artists who have spawned a new test on the Gusii Music gallery were led by Jirani hit-maker Faith Stan.

It is their song 'Wakenya Wote Simama' that got President Kenyatta asking all leaders to join him in the dance.

The president called leaders Raila Odinga, Musalia Mudavadi, Moses Wetangula, Kalonzo Musyoka to join him and the Deputy President as they danced in joy.

The artists included MC Miggy (Echambioni), Vicky Young, Babu Gee (Omosayansi) and a host of dancers from the region.

Top Gusii male gospel artist Douglas Otiso paired up with Pheny Kerubo with an electric performance that had the backing of the preceding performing artists.

ODM leader Raila Odinga who appeared elated by the performance at the event said the community had showcased their talents and rich culture.

"The first person to pray here prayed in Ekegusii. We are going back to our culture. Waswahili walisema mwacha mila ni mtumwa," stated Mr Odinga.

He recognized the community heroes as Otenyo, Musa Nyandusi, Sam Nyamweya, George Morara and athletes Nyantika Mayoro, Natfal Otenyo and Charles Sasati.

"This is a land of heroes who need to be supported," held Mr Odinga.
