Inspector-General of Police Hillary Mutyambai has revealed that the police have taken action to deter child kidnappers as cases of child trafficking rise.

Inspector-General of Police Hillary Mutyambai has disclosed that security has been heightened across the country to deter child kidnappers as cases of child trafficking rise.

In Monday's episode of his weekly hour-long engagement with Kenyans on Twitter, IG Mutyambai stated that security had been heightened and advised parents to take care of their children.

The police boss also called on parents to educate their children on basic security measures before providing emergency contacts through which one could reach the authorities.

"For any suspicious characters and activities contact police hotlines 112,911 or 999, and the DCI 0800722203," he wrote.

The police boss also responded to complaints from Nairobians on the insecurity in the city.

According to IG Mutyambai, adequate police officers have been deployed in the crime-prone areas while insisting that community policing had its part to play in eradicating crime.

An anti-mugging team has also been formed to reduce cases of mugging in the city.

Police Boss Mutyambai's tweets come just a few hours after former Prime Minister Raila Odinga called on the authorities to do better and bring the cases of child kidnappings and murders to an end.

The country has been rocked by the confessions of two serial killers who were nabbed in the past week.

Masten Wanjala Milimu was arrested in Nairobi and has since confessed to kidnapping and killing 13 minors.

In Uasin Gishu, Evans Juma Wanjala is in custody on suspicion of defiling then killing 5 girls between 2019 and 2021.
