The Office of the Government Spokesperson has termed as fake reports doing rounds on social media, claiming that Cyrus Oguna recently said he admires Deputy President William Ruto’s bottom-up philosophy.

In a tweet on Friday night, the Office of the Government Spokesperson distanced Oguna from the remarks, adding that while speaking in Chuka, he neither mentioned the DP nor his bottom-up economic model.

“We bring to your attention that this story that has been circulating on digital media is fake,”Oguna’s office tweeted.

The flagged story had claimed that Oguna while addressing students in Chuka urged them to emulate the DP and work towards growing from the bottom to the top.

“Maintaining the high position is very difficult, but when you start low and grow slowly, you will never come back to the lower position. No wonder it has been hard to bring down the Deputy President,” a quite from the flagged story read in part.


A check conducted by Nairobi Leo on the Government Spokesperson’s official social media handles revealed that Oguna was in Chuka, and addressed students, but his focus was entirely on a different subject.

In his address, the empowered the students on various business, employment and finance opportunities made available to them by the government including; internships, Ajira Digital, Uwezo Fund and Youth Fund among others.
