Kenya has recorded 1,395 more Covid-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours, as the country's total caseload rises to 55,192.

A statement from Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said 15 more people have succumbed to coronavirus in Kenya.

1,087 patients were discharged, 1,019 from the home-based care program, and 68 from the hospital around the country. Total recoveries now stand at 36,963.

Kagwe disclosed that the youngest case is a four-month-old infant while the oldest is aged 94.

From the cases, 1,337 are Kenyans and 58 are foreigners. In terms of gender 879 are males and 516 females

The latest cases are from a sample size of 7,635 tested with the country’s cumulative tests now at 695,087.

CS Kagwe announced that 1,241 patients are admitted to various health facilities countrywide while 4,495 are in home-based care.

“55 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 32 of whom are on ventilatory support and 23 on supplementary oxygen. 45 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen but not in the ICU, while 11 are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU),” the CS said.
