Economist David Ndii has addressed a viral letter dated Tuesday, December 7, 2021, alleging that he has tendered his resignation as Deputy President William Ruto's economic advisor.
In a post on December 7, Ndii dismissed the letter, revealing that the only letter he has written recently was one to President Uhuru Kenyatta on Covid-19 in the country, dated March 25, 2020.
Ndii has established himself as a close confidant of DP Ruto and is believed to be the brains behind the economic model championed for by the second in command.
Over the years, through letters, Ndii has issued advice on matters of economy to President Kenyatta and his deputy.

However, the letter circulated on December 7, alleged that Ndii had felt his position in DP Ruto's team and UDA had become untenable.
"Following a sequence of personal reflection and thought-provoking reviews, I wish to tender my resignation as your economic advisor.
"Having originated the concept of bottom-up economic model, which seeks to uplift the proletariats, which was also in the NASA 2017 campaigns, I have come to realize that my position as UDA's economic strategist is untenable," the letter read in part.
The letter proceeded to list Ndii's reasons for leaving the Ruto camp.
"Political conmanship: The bottom-up economic model is an apparent departure from trickle-down model; in the bottom-up, there's economic inclusion of the masses spurring development whereas in trickle-down, the Government targets,e,t of capital for economic development. This was my initial belief with you only to realize that you are using the model for the sole intent of capturing power and do not believe in its tenets and or spirit," the letter read.
It further claimed that the economist had chosen to decamp from Hustler Nation due to corruption.
"In my interaction with you, both informally a. in planning, I am appalled to realize that you are the main economic saboteur and the cause of economic distress the country is facing. No wonder you are resistant to any strategy that would fight corruption should you assume the presidency," the letter further alleged.
The letter further claimed that Ndii does not believe the DP represents the common Mwananchi's political and economic aspirations contra the perceived closeness to Mwananchi.
The letter labelled DP Ruto a continuation of the economic oppressors that were bred during the KANU regime in the 90s and have now morphed in disguise as an economic liberator.
"I urge all Kenyans to open their eyes to deceitful devices aimed at influencing collective and personal decision making using individual predicaments," the letter concluded.
It bore a signature that closely resembles that of Ndii and a font that he has used often in his letters.
Ndii has since dismissed the letter as fake.
