Murang'a Woman Representative Sabina Chege has reiterated that she is not afraid to be associated with ODM leader Raila Odinga.

While addressing members of the press, the lawmaker stated that getting to work closely with the former premier has revealed to them a side of him that she never knew existed.

She described the ODM leader as a very humble and polite person.

"I am no longer afraid of being associated with Raila Odinga, he is a leader like any other. I have a responsibility as a leader of people from my region to help them fight this phobia. Initially were sold that Raila was not even human, we were very much afraid of him.

"but now we have had access to him. He is a very polite person and has come out as a great family man. He is very considerate of other people and is very down to earth," Sabina stated.

The Murang'a woman representative noted that she has known the kind of person the former Prime Minister is and it is now her responsibility to inform her constituents.

She said that at the moment, people from Mount Kenya are willing to have a conversation of whether Odinga can be their presidential candidate or not, a thing she noted was unheard of two years ago.

"He is no longer excited about leadership. He has been there, he has lost. One thing I support him for is that he is mature in politics. He doesn't get excited easily. He has tried four times. We will give him this fifth time.

"Now that we can sit and talk, we can have a very candid conversation. We will talk to the people, and also be listening to them. Now that we are on recess, we will talk to women, youths, and everyone in the grassroots," she said.

Sabina stated that she will listen to the views of people from her region and also offer them her piece of mind as they agree on the best way forward.

She noted that by February 2022, it will be clear what direction her constituents will take.

She also stated that then, she will make a decision on which political party to use ahead of the August 9, 2022, General Elections.
