Nabulindo explained that he had listened to his people and they had adviced him to join the former premier as he is likely to win the August 9, general elections.

ANC Leader Musalia Mudavadi continues to undergo turbulent political times after yet another politician departed from his camp on Monday, January 10, 2022.

Matungu Member of Parliament Peter Oscar Nabulindo yesterday announced that he had left the ANC leader's camp for Azimio La Umoja coalition led by ODM Leader Raila Odinga.

Nabulindo explained that he had listened to his people and they had adviced him to join the former premier as he is likely to win the August 9, general elections.

The first-time MP further claimed that he is unwilling to lead his constituents into the opposition as they are more likely to benefit from projects initiated by the national government.

"The people of Matungu want me to be in the next government so that I can bring development to this area and I can't do that when I'm in the opposition, so they have told me to join Azimio since it will form the next government," he explained.

Nabulindo was elected Matungu MP during a by-election in March 2021, following the death of Justus Murunga.

He is the latest MP to join Odinga's camp following in the footsteps of Lugari MP Ayub Savula and Nominated MP Godfrey Osotsi.

During the Bukhingu II meeting in Kakamega on December 31, 2021, Savula and Osotsi declared support for the Azimio la Umoja coalition.

However, Savula maintained that he will seek the Kakamega County gubernatorial seat on an ANC ticket but support Odinga's presidential bid.

On the other hand, Osotsi quit ANC for ODM.
