In an update on Tuesday, February 1, the CAS noted that the decision was arrived at following consultations with close associates including ODM party leader Raila Odinga.

"I have consulted my immediate and extended family. I have objectively ruminated and mulled over it with very close friends

"I have also extensively consulted and deliberated on this with my party leader Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga," Osiany said.

Osiany noted that he would instead continue performing government assignments especially since President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to leave office post August 9 polls.

He ran for the Rongo parliamentary seat in 2017 but lost to Paul Abuor, he was however appointed by Uhuru as the Industrialization CAS in February 2021.

The CAS' wife Syombua Osiany could not hide her joy as she publicly congratulated her husband while giving similarities between his excellent skills and a passage in the bible talking about talent. Proverbs 22:29:

"You see a man truly skilled in his work? He will serve kings. Congratulations to you Love David Osiany HSC, on your appointment as the Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) in the Ministry of Industrialization, Trade and Enterprise Development," she wrote.

Prior to joining politics, Osiany was a news anchor at Royal Media Services-owned Hot 96 where he presented the sports bulletin.

While at the station he initiated and hosted a political show, The Hot Seat, which was an accountability platform dissecting national issues with Kenya’s political leaders.
