Sorrow and grief have gripped Malimali village in Malava Constituency, Kakamega County, after a 19-year-old boy committed suicide in his bedroom on the night of Wednesday, February 2, 2022.

Timothy Indimuli was discovered dangling from a rope in his bedroom.

According to reports, his family had not seen him for a whole day, prompting them to initiate a search.

For the better part of the day, nobody seemed to care about the 19-year-old's whereabouts until they went into his bedroom at night and found his body hanging from a rope.

His mother, Rasowa Rikwiro revealed that his son had been struggling with stress after he failed to get a job. She claims this may have been the main motive behind his suicide.

"I usually go out to work early in the morning, but I don’t remember seeing him as I left home," she said.

Rasowa came home from running her errands and found the door to Indimuli's bedroom locked.

After he failed to come home, she raised alarm and neighbours came to her home and helped break the door to the bedroom only to find his body hanging from the roof.

Police in Kabras have since launched investigations into the matter.

Hamberere Assistant Chief Violet Barasa urged the youths to seek advice from elders whenever they are faced with life challenges.

"Whenever you have a problem, seek advice from your parents or elders instead of taking killing yourself," she said.

Indimuli's body was taken to Kakamega County General Teaching and Referral Hospital morgue awaiting autopsy.
