Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has explained why he missed the Azimio la Umoja rallies led by Governor Hassan Joho in the Western region.

The Azimio brigade led by Governor Joho, Murang'a Women Representative Sabina Chege, Senator Ledama Olekina, Junet Mohamed, and Kanini Kega popularized Raila Odinga's presidential bid in Vihiga County this week.

However, missing in the campaigns was Oparanya with some questioning his whereabouts.

Explaining his absence, the Kakamega Governor noted that there were some administrative issues he had to handle since Raila Odinga is out of the country.

"Raila is out of the country and as his deputy, there were a number of administrative issues that I had to deal with at the secretariat offices," he stated.

Oparanya stated that he would attend the funeral of Harambee Stars football fan Isaac Juma on Saturday and later in the evening join the Azimio brigade in Busia County.

The Governor also dismissed reports that he was set to Join the Kenya Kwanza Alliance led by DP William Ruto.

"If Kenya Kwanza Alliance is the only option for me, I will rather resign from politics and go home to be a farmer than joining them," he said.
