Kalonzo says whether Raila was to win the presidency in 2017 or not, he was to support his presidential bid in 2022.

Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka has revealed details of his agreement with the ODM leader Raila Odinga made in 2017.

In a press statement on Tuesday at his Wiper Command Center in Karen, Kalonzo said it is time Raila back his bid as agreed in 2017.

The Wiper leader said the details of the agreement was that he was to be Raila's running mate in 2017, and Raila was to support his bid in 2022.

According to Kalonzo, the details of the agreement was, whether Raila was to win the presidency in 2017 or not, he was to support his presidential bid in 2022.

"The commitment made herein shall bind Raila and Kalonzo in both 2017 and 2022 elections. By this agreement, Raila was to be Nasa presidential candidate and Kalonzo's running mate. He was to serve a one-term and back Kalonzo as a presidential candidate in the 2022 polls," Kalonzo explained.

Kalonzo says the document is a binding legal agreement and Prof Maka Mutua was the custodian of the agreement.

He says Makau Mutua was the one supposed to ensure the agreement is implemented fully but he is surprised to see him renege on the deal and instead back Raila again for the presidency.

The Wiper leader says he will engage in further negotiations with the ODM leader if only the document of his agreement becomes a subject of discussion.

He says he is willing and ready for the negotiation for the formation of the Grand Alliance but only if it is pegged on honesty and respect to the deal he had with Raila back in 2017.

"This document is a binding legal agreement. As we commit to the formation of the Grand Coalition, we are ready for fresh negotiations but only if this document forms the basis of the negotiation," he said.
