Education CS Prof. George Magoha on Monday released the 2021 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination results.

Prof. Magoha highlighted the top ten students nationally as well as the most improved schools in the country and the general performance. 

A total of 1,214,031 candidates who sat the examination in 28,313 centres across the country received their results today. 

Of these candidates, 610,384 (50.28%) were boys and 603,647 (49.72%) girls. 

Here are the top ten KCPE candidates

2. Momanyi Ashley Kerubo from Makini School Kibos - 427

3. Kwoma Charity from Holy Family Misikhu Girls Primary School - 426

4. Mbugua Sharon Wairimu from Emmanuel Academy - 426 

5. Mueti Shantel Ndinda from Kitengela International School - 426 

6. Stanley Otieno Omondi from Field Junior School - 426 

7. Wekesa Naomi Neema from White Star Academy - 426 

8. Kimani Ethan Karuga from Stepping Stones Preparatory - 426 

9. Njeru Joel Junior Musyoka from Nyangwa - 425 

10. Kiriinya Muriuki Victor from PCEA Mwimbi boarding - 425 

11. Diana Rose Matolo from Fesbeth Academy - 425 

The summary of the grades for the KCPE results are as follows

A. 400 – 500 - 11,857 students 

B. 300 – 399 - 315,275 students 

C. 200 – 299 - 578,197 students 

D. 100 – 199 - 307,532 students 

E. 001 – 099 - 1,170 students 

The most improved public schools with a candidature of 50 and above in each region is as follows; 


The highest special needs candidate scored 417 marks compared with the top candidate who scored 420 marks in 2020 KCPE out of the possible 500 marks.

During the year 2021 KCPE examination, 12 counties registered more female than male candidates: Mombasa, Meru, Isiolo, Tharaka Nithi, Nairobi, Uasin Gishu, Busia, Bungoma, Kakamega, Vihiga, Kisumu and Siaya.
