A female police officer based at Makupa police station, Mombasa,  was on Tuesday attacked by a group of criminals while on her way to work.

The female officer who resides in Magongo area said she had left her home to work around 5 am when the group attacked her, the Star reports.

The gangs also went away with his personal effects.

The female officer also sustained injuries to the head and arm during the robbery incident.

She was rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Police suspect the gang plans to use the uniforms to commit a serious crime and have heightened security and alertness.

An operation to bring the suspect to bring to book is ongoing.
