A traffic police officer who was captured on camera forcing his way into a car  through a window now faces disciplinary action. 

In a statement issued by National Police Service (NPS) on Wednesday, the said officer has been identified and action will be taken. 

"The National Police Service has instituted disciplinary measures against a traffic officer who forced himself into a car through a window. A brief altercation then followed before the beleaguered driver was ejected and the cop commandeered the vehicle with the remaining occupant totally bemused.

"The incident that occurred at Kenyatta avenue has attracted online condemnation with netizens calling out the officer for behaving in a distasteful manner and portraying the entire police service in a bad light. The National Police Service has in a communication released this evening condemned the incident, identified the errant officer, and instituted immediate disciplinary action against him," NPS said.

Netizens condemned the incident on social media with the majority calling for action against the said officer.

Based on the video, there seemed to be a confrontation between the police officer and the motorist that continued for a few seconds.

Shortly, the officer is seen forcing his way into the car using the window on the passenger seat side.
