According to Mudavadi, the BBI team used a total of Ksh10 billion on the BBI process since its inception.

Deputy President William Ruto's team has called on the Auditor General to commence investigations into the huge amount of money allegedly used on the fallen Building Bridges Initiative BBI bill.

Speaking on Friday during Kenya Kwanza Press Briefing on the BBI verdict from Lamu Island, the team led by William Ruto and Musalia Mudavadi faulted President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga's camp, saying they used large sums of money on an illegal process.

While lauding the Supreme Court judges for upholding the constitution and protecting it from alleged manipulations, ANC Party Leader Musalia Mudavadi called on the Auditor General to immediately commence investigations into the public money that was used on the illegal BBI process, saying billions of uncounted money were spent on the bill.

According to Mudavadi, the BBI team used a total of Ksh10 billion on the BBI process since its inception.

He said the money used was illegally sourced from public coffers and not approved by the National Assembly

"The BBI team spent Ksh10 billion in hotels on the purported collection of public views on the bill. Public funds used in BBI were not appropriated by the national assembly but illegally sourced from public coffers. All BBI promoters are accountable to the public for their illegal decisions and actions," Mudavadi said.

The ANC boss said the courts had done Kenyans justice since the bill was going to cost them Ksh5.56 billion annually on payments of the expanded executive.

"We will call for a legal process for the audit of the BBI money. Auditor General is required to conduct a forensic audit on all public funds spent on all illegal processes from the start to date. This has caused the Kenyan government huge sums of money that should have been used on other things" added Musalia.

He mentioned that the time is ripe for Kenyans to send the handshake brothers home come the August 9th general elections
