Ledama questioned why the President can't be allowed to run for the Deputy President post after office.

Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina's Twitter post has elicited sharp reactions online after suggestively fronting President Uhuru Kenyatta for Deputy President's post in the future.

Through his Twitter page, the vocal ODM senator wondered why it is hard for the head of state to come back and run as the deputy president after his/her term comes to an end.

According to Ledama, the constitution has allowed the county chiefs (governors) to run for other elective seats including the senate after their second terms in office, wondering why the president can be allowed to do the same.

"Thinking out loud …. If Governors are running for Senate why can’t the President run for Deputy President ???" posed Ledama.

It is a post that has attracted varied reactions, with renowned political analyst David Makali coming out to mock Ledama over his post.

Makali hit out at Ledama, saying he should instead be championing for the protection of a constitution he had read and understood instead of advocating for its violation. He urged Ledama to consider changing his advisors who are allegedly misadvising him.

"How does that even make sense bwana Legislator? What oath did you take? To defend a constitution you have not read and purvey this kind of ignorance? The person who is deputy should be eligible for president. Are things this desperate? Hapana. Hapana. Badilisha supplier my friend" responded Malaki on Ledama's tweet.

"Thinking out loud under the influence of weed. You know it's not possible. Uhuru has exhausted his 10yrs as the president. Yet the constitution is very clear, in the unlikely event the president dies, his deputy will assume the office. Uhuru yake imeisha.. Do you get it?" added another user @MumbiMbui

This comes at a time when Ledama is facing off with the incumbent Governor Samuel Tunai for Narok county senatorial seat.

Tunai, whose second term in office as a governor is coming to an end in August, has announced that he will be running for the seat under the UDA party ticket. Ledama will be banking on ODM's popularity in Narok to retain the seat.
