The former Gatanga MP had been nominated by the Jubilee Party to be considered for the position.

Former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth has weighed into the unfortunate event if he misses out on being Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga’s running mate.

Addressing the media at Serena Hotel on Tuesday after he faced the Azimio panel, Kenneth said that he would still remain loyal to the former Prime Minister.

The former presidential aspirant said that his support for the Azimio presidential candidate is paramount. He said that Raila will give Kenyans a reset moment if he clinches the top seat.

“In the unlikely event that I’m not the one fronted, I’ll still remain in Azimio and give support as I’ve given before. And that it is what it is. That is where I belong. And I belong there because I believe in the things that are coming out,” Kenneth told journalists.

Kenneth was one of the candidates fronted by the ruling Jubilee party to be considered by the Azimio panel for the position.

He was nominated alongside Murang’a Women Representative Sabina Chege who has already faced the 7-member team panel.

The panel was expected to submit the name of the eligible candidate to Raila on or before May 10.

The Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission set May 16 as the deadline for submitting the names of presidential running mates.
