Kimani police have recovered 22 assorted guns and more than 500 bullets they stumbled upon when providing security to an auctioneer who was on a mission to recover Sh4.9 million.
The recovery was made at an office along Wood Avenue in the Kilimani area, Nairobi. A man had put his valuables on auction for failing to pay the rent.
Owing to the sensitivity of the matter, the Anti-Terror Police Unit has taken over the investigations.
The auctioneer had recovered a court order to break into the office and remove the proclaimed goods to recover money.
The goods belonged to the tenant namely Ken Lugwili of Vic. Technologies Limited.

One of the rooms was discovered to be having a standard armoury where the weapons were found.
Nine escort magnum short guns, one Benelli short gun, five Guatro short guns, one savage short gun, six Walter pistols, and a total of 565 ammunition of assorted different calibres were found at the armoury.
Police also found 25 pistol holsters, dozens of magazine carriers, 30 slings, ten sniper torches and a certificate of registration as a firearm dealer. A firearm movement register and assorted firearm manuals were also found.
Kilimani police station DCI boss Stephen Tanki said they took over the recovered items for safe custody as investigations go on.
“It seems he was a firearms dealer but it was dangerous for him to leave this issue to reach this stage with such weapons therein yet all indications are the license had expired,” he said.
