The son is said to have committed the offence using father's pistol.

North Eastern Deputy Regional Police Commander Patrick King'ori Macharia's son on Sunday shot himself dead at their Nairobi Home.

The young son was discovered dead in one of their rooms at their Kagundo Home by by the Police commander and his wife.

He committed the act using father's pistol which was found lying besides him.

Police reports indicates that Macharia had left his gun in the house and was having a talk with his wife when they heard a loud bhang from the house.

It is then that the two stormed their house and made a search to establish what had happened.

The father before the search discovered that his gun was missing from the point he had kept it.

"The room was locked from inside, he with the help of his wife broke into their son’s bedroom. Their son had shot himself on the left side of the head with one round which exited on the right side of the head," read the statement filed with the police.

A report incident on the matter was filed at Mawe Mbili police station.

Officers from the police station arrived at the home during which they pronounced the son dead.

"The scene was processed and documented by scenes of crime personnel. The gun with 29 rounds and one spent cartridge was withheld pending ballistic experts’ analysis,” a report filed at police Occurrence Book indicates.

A Jericho pistol was confiscated during the visit by the police even as the processed the scene.

The body of the deceased was ferried to the Kenyatta University Mortuary where a post-mortem will be conducted.
