The new Safaricom Networks Director previously served as the Director of Information Technology at the Central Bank of Kenya. 

Telecommunication giant Safaricom has appointed Antony Gacanja as the new Network Director. 

In a statement on Monday, June 12, Safaricom stated that Gacanja will be responsible for the design, build, roll out, performance, and enhancement of the telecommunication’s network infrastructure.

“Reporting to the Chief Technology & Information Officer, Anthony will be responsible for the design, build, rollout, performance, and enhancement of all network infrastructure. His primary focus will be delivering a superior quality of service to Safaricom customers,” the statement read in part.

Safaricom also noted that Gacanja will be responsible for managing the delivery of existing Information System Services and the implementation of new systems.

“He will also be responsible for managing the delivery of existing Information System Services and the implementation of new systems,” Safaricom added.

The company further stated that Gacanja has over twenty years’ experience in technology governance and operations, cyber security, information risk assurance and software development.

This is the second time Gacanja will work for Safaricom having previously served as a senior Manager Corporate Information Security Officer (CISCO) from August 2008 to May 2012.

Gacanja has also worked at the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) as the Director of Information Technology. He served in the position from April 2019 until May 2023.
