Kenya Airways had temporarily suspended flights to Mogadishu in August 2020 following the Covid-19 pandemic.

National Carrier Kenya Airways has announced it will resume non-stop flights to Mogadishu after a three year break. 

In a statement on Wednesday November 29, KQ said the flights will commence on February 14, 2024 and will fly three times in a week.

The flights which will be on every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday will cost from USD 1050 (Sh160,860).

“Starting 14th February 2024, fly non-stop to Mogadishu from Nairobi 3x weekly on Kenya Airways every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday. Enjoy our special fares, starting from USD 1050,” the national carrier stated.

On Wednesday and Saturday flights, KQ362 will leave Nairobi at 14:00 and arrive in Mogadishu at 15:45 while flight number KQ363 will leave Mogadishu at 16:35 and arrive in Nairobi 18:20.

The airline had temporarily suspended flights to Mogadishu in August 2020 following the Covid-19 pandemic.

KQ Chief Commercial and Customer Officer Thairu noted that the company aims to re-establish a link between Mogadishu and Nairobi.

“This move aligns with the increasing business and the growing number of air travel between Kenya and Somalia. Kenya Airways is committed to providing high-quality service for our customers,” said Thairu.

This comes days after Somalia was admitted to the East African Community (EAC) as the eight member of the bloc.
