Faith Kipyegon won the 1500 meters and 5000 meters races. 

Faith Kipyegon will receive four million shillings from the government after winning two gold medals in the recently concluded World Athletic Championships in Budapest Hungary.  

Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba announced the amount on Friday, September 1 during the official opening of Talanta Plaza in Nairobi. 

CS Namwamba at the same time announced that Mary Moraa who won the 800 meters race in the World Athletic Championships will walk away with two million shillings.

“Faith Kipyegon who won two gold medals receives four million shillings, Mary Moraa receives two million shillings, Emanuel Wanyonyi, Beatrice Chepkoech, and Daniel Simiyu for silver medal they win Ksh 1.5 million each,” said CS Namwamba.

The Sports CS noted that all the athletes who won bronze medals will get one million shillings each while all the finalists will receive fifty thousand shillings each.

Kipyegon on Tuesday claimed a third world 1500 meters title and delivered another masterclass in the 5,000 meters within fourteen minutes and fifty-three seconds.

This comes barely two months after the government gave Kipyegon a whooping Sh5 million and a house worth Sh6 million for breaking two world records in Paris France and Florence Italy.

"We are going to start today, the government of Kenya is going to give Faith Kipyegon Sh5 million for breaking the 1500m race world record and a house worth Sh6 million for breaking the 5000m race world record," President Ruto announced on June 13.
