A Section of Machakos county Assembly members allied to Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader Dr. Alfred Mutua threatened to shoot down the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) Bill.

Speaking on Thursday in Machakos the MCAs vowed to vote against the BBI if Governor Mutua is not respected.

The MCAs said the proponents of BBI have continued to undermine the MCC party leader his influence in the process notwithstanding.

According to the 33 Ward Representatives, a meeting called in Stoni Athi by the BBI team was convened behind the knowledge of Dr. Mutua.

BBI Passed

“They are spending close to Ksh 45 million to bribe members of Assembly and we decline to be a party to it,” Machakos Assembly Minority leader Alex Kamitu said.

Earlier Kisii County Assembly became the eighth assembly to pass the BBI Constitution of Kenya (Amendment) Bill joining Trans Nzoia, Kisumu, Siaya, Homa Bay, West Pokot, Kajiado, and Busia counties.

The 68 MCAs unanimously voted to pass the bill during a session chaired by Acting Speaker Amos Onderi.
