Wakapee's Wife Receives Major Endorsement ahead of Jubilee Primaries

The widow of former Juja Member of Parliament Francis Waititu alias Wakapee has received a major endorsement from the teachers’ union, ahead of Jubilee party nominations set for March 20, 2021.

Speaking on Thursday, Kiambu Kenya Post-Primary Education Teachers Union (Kuppet) and Kenya Women Teachers Association (Kewota) branch officials promised to support Susan Njeri in her bid to become the next Juja Legislator.

The union leaders urged all teachers to turn out in large numbers and support Njeri in the nominations and eventually in the by-election.

Teachers form a huge percentage of voters in the constituency, therefore having their backing is a great deal for any aspirant.

Elsewhere, Njeri also received the backing of his step son Michael Munyua who was alleged to be supporting one of her opponents.

According to Munyua, Njeri has what it takes to fill the shoes left behind by his late father.

If Njeri emerges victorious in the Jubilee nominations, she will face off with People’s Empowerment Party (PEP) candidate George Koimburi.

PEP party leady Moses Kuria is confident that Koimburi will emerge victorious in the upcoming contest.

Many were expecting to see Jubilee face-off with UDA party in Juja, but the latter pulled out of the race.

Speaking on Monday, UDA Secretary-General Veronica Maina said since late MP’s widow Susan Njeri is seeking the Jubilee ticket, the party has resorted not to field a candidate against her.

According to Maina, the party will now wait until the 2022 general election to have a candidate in the area.

“We would have really wished to but we have consulted widely including aspirants who had expressed interest in our party ticket and we resolved that since it is the widow, we should not get involved but rather wait until 2022,” she said.
