Msambweni independent parliamentary candidate Faisal Abdalla Bader has received a major boost after three rival candidates shelved down their bids, vowing to support him.

On Sunday, Bashir Kilalo, Peter Nzuki and Bakari Sebe decided toback down and support Bader who they feel has a greater chance of winning.

In a tweet, Deputy President William Ruto hailed the three, noting that he was delighted to see the leaders reaching an agreement to back Bader.

“Met Msambweni grassroot leaders and supporters of Mr Sebe, Mr Kilalo and Mr Nzuki, in the company of MPs @HonJumwa (Malindi), @KIMANIICHUNGWAH (Kikuyu), George Theuri (Embakasi W.), @nixon_korir (Lang’ata), former Mombasa Senator @HassanOmarH & former Machakos Sen. @nduyamuthama.

“Grateful to witness the pact forged by the Msambweni by-election aspirants in favour of independent candidate Faisal Abdalla Bader. Our sincere gratitude to Bashir Kilalo, Peter Nzuki and Bakari Sebe for their courage and leadership to forego their ambitions and support Faisal,” he tweeted.


Bader vs Omar Boga

Bader who is backed by the Tanga tanga faction of Jubilee led by DP Ruto will now face off with former Gombato/Bongwe MCA Omar Boga; who is the ODM candidate. He also has backing from the Kieleweke faction of Jubilee which has branded him the handshake candidate.

Other contestants in the race include Wiper’s Shee Abdulrahman and United Green Movement party’s Liganje Mwakaonje.
