The actor was released from custody a few hours after being involved in the shooting that left one person dead.

Police investigating a shooting incident involving popular actor Ainea Ojiambo have forwarded his file to the Director of Public Prosecutions for advice on the next way forward.

Ojiambo was on Friday night arrested after being involved in a shooting incident at Moi Avenue in Nairobi CBD.

Ojiambo; a licensed gun holder is reported to have shot and wounded a guard and by-stander while allegedly defending himself from muggers.

Unfortunately, the guard succumbed to his injuries.

Following the incident, Ojiambo was taken in, but later released on police bond as police probe the incident.

His statement and that of witnesses were recorded after which his file was forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions. 

"We will know the way forward after the DPP gives his word on the probe file,” an investigator said.

According to a video doing rounds on social media, a group of young men approached Ojiambo and tried robbing him of his gold chain, but he managed to shove them away, pulled his gun and fired.

The incident caused commotion and tension along the busy street as users scampered for safety unaware of what was happening.

When it emerged that Ojiambo has shot a guard, an angry crowd gathered an almost lynched him, but he was saved by the police.

According to Ojiambo, he was aiming at his attackers but unfortunately shot the guard.

Ojiambo is an experienced Kenyan actor and has featured on several top films like Nairobi half life and Makutano Junction.
