Renowned Kenyan Economist David Ndii has over the past few weeks had a series of meetings with Deputy President William Ruto, deliberating on the latter’s economic plan for the country should he emerge victorious in the 2022 presidential race.
The most recent meeting was reportedly over the weekend when Ndii accompanied Ruto for a n engagement with Mt Kenya Members of Parliament.
Ndii is reported to have presented how the bottom-up approach being propagated by the DP will benefit the Mt Kenya region and the country at large.
Following the meeting, a local daily published a story indicating that Ndii and other economists from former President Mwai Kibaki’s era had joined the DPs team as advisors on economic issues.
The story has elicited massive reactions with a section of netizens revisiting old tweets by David Ndii castigating President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto.
In one of the tweets in 2019, Ndii suggested that anyone working with Uhuru and Ruto was a thief.
“Only people still working for Uhuruto are fellow thieves, sycophants, cowards, incompetents and vainglorious opportunists,” he tweeted.
Following confrontation from a section of netizens, Ndii has changed tune noting claiming that Ruto is no longer part of government.
