  • 6 people have died in a terrible road crash after a lorry collided head-on with a tractor.

Six people have died and thirty others are seriously injured in a grisly accident.

The accident occurred on Tuesday morning in the Moita area, Narok County.

Reports intimated that 3 cane cutters died following the accident involving a tractor and a lorry collided head-on.

Deputy County Commissioner Mohammed Hassan confirmed the accident which left the residents shocked.

In March this year, Government Spokesman Cyrus Oguna reported that Kenya had recorded more deaths resulting from road carnage compared to a similar period last year.

Oguna stated the government was disturbed over increasing road accidents in which 710 people perished between January and February 2021.

“Comparing the numbers of road accident cases between January and February 2020 and the same period in 2021, there is an increase of 148 cases,” Oguna said.

“These rising cases are ironical since due to the curfew and the movement restrictions, we are experiencing in the country, we expected the numbers to have reduced,” he added.

The data showed 230 pedestrians, 197 motorcyclists, 123 passengers, 79 drivers, 58 pillion passengers, and 23 pedal cyclists had succumbed to road accidents during the period.
